Leading subsea controls specialist J+S Subsea has announced that it has doubled in size following a move to significantly larger premises on the outskirts of Aberdeen.
The award-winning business recently relocated its global headquarters from Kintore to refurbished and expanded premises at Holland House, Pitmedden Road, Dyce in a shift which doubles the size of the company’s base and correctly positions it for future growth as it fulfils ambitious plans to achieve turnover of £10 million. The move is also expected to spark additions to the 39-strong workforce in the coming months.
Additionally, the move to Aberdeen has prompted a significant increase in R&D capacity, whilst expanded storage, workshop and warehouse capabilities will spark a significant increase in J+S Subsea’s innovative Legacy Locker which embraces the circular economy by facilitating the reuse, refurbishment, and remanufacture of subsea equipment.
The new facility will be an important platform for J+S Subsea’s future growth into emerging sectors including hydrogen, CCUS, wind, floating offshore and decommissioning, boosted by the recent granting of Fit for Offshore Renewable (F4OR) status by the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult. It is also expected to allow the company to further expand its international horizons, building on a string of successful overseas projects in the likes of China, Spain, and Canada. Meanwhile, the recent appointment of J+S Subsea’s first overseas agent in Malaysia will capitalise on opportunities in another important focus area.
J+S Subsea’s work has been recognised by winning a clutch of awards this year, including the Company of the Year (under 50 employees) of the Subsea Expo Awards, whilst Environmental and Sustainability Adviser Kairvee Tyagi scooped the Rising Star award. The company is also a finalist in the “Supply Chain” section of OEUK’s Excellence in Decommissioning Awards which will be announced during the Offshore Decommissioning Conference in St Andrews in November.
Commenting on the move to Aberdeen, J+S Subsea Managing Director Phil Reid said: “The relocation of our business is a huge milestone for the company because it clearly defines our long-term commitment to the North east of Scotland.
“This new facility will allow us to further the pursuit of delivering exceptional design, engineering, operational support and maintenance of subsea equipment whilst acting as a springboard towards growth in key emerging markets.”
He added: “As well as providing the right platform from which we can fulfil our own sustainability goals, our new HQ will empower us to realise our ambition to drive real and lasting change in the wider industry, particularly through Legacy Locker.”
