OEUK Award 2024 J+S Subsea

Subsea Specialist J+S Subsea Lifts Decommissioning Award

Our innovative Legacy Locker initiative was recognised for excellence at a high-profile industry decommissioning event this week.

Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) announced its new champions of the North Sea as part of its annual Decommissioning Conference, held in St Andrews.

J+S Subsea received the award for Excellence in the Supply Chain, which was sponsored by the North Sea Transition Authority.

The Legacy Locker is an open industry portal for the reuse, refurbishment, and recycling of subsea equipment. With much of the existing offshore infrastructure now beyond its design life, the initiative offers a fresh, sustainable, and collaborative approach to this challenge.

It allows companies to realise the economic value of existing, unwanted capital equipment by providing a platform to reuse, repurpose, and remanufacture subsea equipment.

J+S Subsea Executive Chairman Matt Blair accepted the award from Pauline Innes, Director of Supply Chain and Decommissioning at the North Sea Transition Authority.

He said:

“The Legacy Locker has been refining its circular economy model for nearly eight years, so it’s great to see it recognised for its ongoing success.

“It is a dynamic marketplace that delivers solutions for owners of obsolete equipment, as well as those looking to overcome supply and support challenges and extend the life of assets.

“It contributes to the industry’s increased competitiveness, innovation, and growth. The cost-effective scheme also aligns perfectly with OEUK’s supply chain principles, supporting sustainability through rigorous environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting.”

Ricky Thomson, Decommissioning Manager at Offshore Energies UK, added:

“Excellence in decommissioning is evident throughout the UK supply chain and operations community.

“The finalists and winners demonstrated innovation, collaboration, teamwork, and resilience in the face of technical and commercial challenges. The UK decommissioning industry should be proud of its achievements, and OEUK is proud to acknowledge excellence among our members.”

Latest Success

This latest recognition follows a string of successes for the Dyce-based company in 2024.

The F4OR scheme, a unique service designed by the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult, equips UK companies like J+S Subsea with the key management systems and competencies required for success in the renewable energy sector.

Additionally:

  • J+S Subsea was named Company of the Year (under 50 employees) at the Subsea Expo Awards, with their Environmental and Sustainability Adviser, Kairvee Tyagi, recognised as the Rising Star.
  • The company earned a Highly Commended distinction in the Exceptional SME/Founder category at the Offshore Achievement Awards.
